Achieving Belonging Caring

On behalf of all the staff, governors, volunteers, parents and children I would like to extend a warm welcome to new and prospective members of our school.

Cubbington Church of England Primary School is at the heart of a thriving village community, providing what we believe to be a high standard of primary education not only for the children of the village of Cubbington, but also for children from several outlying villages. We are a truly inclusive school who values everyone as an individual.

School is a crucial part of life for all children and our purpose is to give each child every opportunity and encouragement to achieve his or her full potential intellectually and physically; to develop emotional, social, spiritual and moral values; and to become valuable citizens. This is supported by a highly talented team of committed and enthusiastic teachers and support staff, who work hard to create a structured and orderly establishment that has children’s learning and the achievement of high standards at its heart, thereby ensuring a welcoming and friendly environment in which each child feels happy, safe and secure.

One of the strengths of our school is the close relationship between all involved in the school – staff, governors, parents, and the wider community. We welcome children from all backgrounds, faiths and cultures and teach children to respect and learn about the diversity of beliefs and customs both in our local community and in the world beyond, while teaching children about the Christian faith through our strong links with St Mary’s Church. In particular, the development of a partnership between the school and the parents and carers of each child is a major aim of the school. As well as sharing information with individual parents about the curriculum and how each pupil is performing academically, the school has developed many opportunities for parents to become involved in the life of the school, and I would encourage all new parents to take advantage of these opportunities, thereby supporting not only their child but the school as a whole.

Investment over recent years means that your child will enjoy learning in comfortable, well-equipped surroundings. As well as having an ICT suite, all classrooms have interactive white boards and more recently access to a set of wireless tablets (kindly paid for by the PTA in 2015), so that teaching and learning can be most effective through the use of new technologies. The school’s outdoor classrooms and grounds provide plenty of opportunity for learning, sport, gardening and relaxation. The school grounds is home to a Before and After School Club called ‘Schools Out’ to help parents whose lifestyles demand quality child care beyond the school day. This club is also open through some of the holiday periods.

The best way to choose a school is certainly to see it in action and we are always pleased to show prospective families around on our Autumn Open Days or by appointment at other times.

I look forward to a long and rewarding partnership, helping and supporting your child to grow and develop as a valued and valuable member of our school and the community..
