Governors

Welcome To Cubbington Primary School Governing Body

Our Governors play an important role in the maintaining the special ethos at Cubbington Primary School.  Working with the Headteacher, our governors help to identify strategic priorities, manage resources and monitor the quality of teaching and learning.  We have a great deal of experience on the governing body and all of our governors are passionate about the school and making sure that all children receive the best possible education.

On this page you will find information on the identity of our governors and various documents relating to the work of the governors. Copies of meeting minutes are available on request and if you have any further questions please contact the Chair of Governors via the school.

Nick Wylie - Co-Chair

He has been Chair and Co-Chair since 2015 and has had the privilege of seeing the school develop during that time.  He currently works in Higher Education where he is Associate Dean in the Faculty of Business and Innovation at Arden University. Mike Young - Foundation Governor

Mike has retired after a career in computing. He was involved in the development of networking services for the IT outsourcing business of a major corporate service provider. He held both technical consultant and management roles. He was invited to become a school governor by the vicar at St. Mary’s Cubbington when a longstanding foundation governor retired in 2017. His first thought was – why should I do this? However, prayer convinced him that this was a new direction in his life. He is a member of the Coventry Diocesan Governors’ Reference and Advisory Group established by the Diocesan Board of Education in 2018. He is also a member of the Academy Governors Committee at Leamington Hastings. He is the Parish Safeguarding Officer for the parish of St. Mary’s Cubbington and is the leader of the bell ringers there. He feels strongly that our pupils and their families deserve the best comprehensive education and support we can give them to enjoy “life in all its fullness” (John 10:10).

Chris Lester - Foundation Governor

Chris was a teacher at the school for just over 22 years. She retired in December 2022 and became a governor in October 2023. Being a governor has enabled her to continue her involvement in the life of the school that she loves and to bring some of her knowledge and experience of the school to the role. As a foundation governor, Chris hopes to be able to support and further strengthen the links between the school and St. Mary’s Church in order to enhance the experiences of all those involved in the school community.
